- Accepted the resignation from the office of auxiliary of the diocese of Bayeux et Lisieux, France, presented by Bishop Guy Gaucher O.C.D., upon having reached the age limit.

 - Appointed Bishop Louis Chamniern Santisukniran of Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, as archbishop of Thare and Nonseng (area 25,447, population 3,157,780, Catholics 50,008, priests 50, religious 108), Thailand.

 - Appointed Bishop Wiktor Skworc of Tarnow, Poland, as member of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.

 - Archbishop Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo, archpriest of the Pontifical Basilica of St. Paul's Outside-the-Walls.

 - Members of the executive council of the Papal Foundation: Cardinals William Henry Keeler, archbishop of Baltimore, U.S.A., Theodore Edgar McCarrick, archbishop of Washington, U.S.A., Justin Francis Rigali, archbishop of Philadelphia, U.S.A.

- Carl A. Anderson, supreme knight of the Knights of Columbus, accompanied by his wife and by Bishop William Edward Lori of Bridgeport, U.S.A., supreme chaplain of the Knights of  Columbus.

POPE BENEDICT'S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JULY

VATICAN CITY, JUL 1, 2005 (VIS) - Pope Benedict's general prayer intention for the month of July is: "That Christians be sensitive to the needs of everyone, without ever hiding the radical requirements of the Gospel message."

  His mission intention is: "That all the baptized be committed, each in their own state of life, to transforming society by permeating the mentality and structures of the world with the light of the Gospel."
